What you need before you start

Your playlist link. A web address that starts with http:// or https:// and usually ends in .m3u or .m3u8 (or an Xtream login from your provider). This is yours to supply — your own list, or one your provider gave you. Only have a .m3u or .m3u8 file? KawaTV loads playlists from links, so Method 2 below shows how to turn the file into one.
A player. The KawaTV web player works in any modern mobile browser, or install KawaTV (Kawa Player) from Google Play.
An internet connection. KawaTV's servers download your playlist for you, so the link must be reachable from the internet — links that only work on your home network (like 192.168.… or localhost) won't load.

How to play an M3U on Android: the quick version

Open KawaTV (the Android app or the web player) and tap Sign in Anonymously — no email or password.
Go to Settings → Playlists and tap the + button.
Enter a Playlist Name, paste your link into Playlist URL, and tap Save.
Tap the refresh button on your new playlist and wait a few seconds for it to show Synced.
Go to Home → My Playlists, open your playlist, and tap a channel to play. Done.

Method 1 — Play an M3U playlist from a URL

A URL is how KawaTV loads every playlist: nothing is stored on your phone, and if the list changes at the source, you pull in the update by tapping refresh (playlists don't refresh on their own).

Copy your playlist URL. Long-press it wherever it lives (an email, a note, your provider's dashboard) and choose Copy.
Open KawaTV and sign in. Tap Sign in Anonymously — there is no email or password to enter. (Prefer to use your email? Type it in and tap Send OTP instead.)
Go to Settings → Playlists and tap the + button. While you have no playlists yet, Home → My Playlists → Manage Playlists takes you to the same screen.
Fill in the New Playlist form. Type a Playlist Name — "Living room" or "My list" makes it easy to find later — and paste the link into Playlist URL. It must start with http:// or https://. Leave Username and Password empty unless you are entering an Xtream login.
Tap Save, then tap the refresh button on your playlist's row. Saving alone does not load anything: refresh tells KawaTV to fetch the list and build your channels. The status on the row changes to Synced when it is done.
Tap any channel to start playing. Open Home → My Playlists, tap your playlist, then tap a channel. Tap the full-screen icon for a bigger picture.

Method 2 — Play a local .m3u or .m3u8 file (via a link)

KawaTV plays playlists from a link. It cannot import a file from your phone's storage, and it does not show up as an "Open with" option for .m3u files in your file manager. If your playlist is only a file (in Downloads, say), put it online first:

Upload the file somewhere that gives a direct https:// link to the raw text. A GitHub Gist works well: create a gist, paste in the file's contents, save it, then tap Raw and copy that page's address.
Check the link in your browser. It should show plain text starting with #EXTM3U, not a web page.
Add it to KawaTV exactly as in Method 1: paste it into Playlist URL, tap Save, then tap refresh.

Anyone who has the link can open the file, so treat it like a password if it contains your provider's stream links. A secret gist stays out of search results but is still readable by anyone with the address.

A quick note on .m3u vs .m3u8

They are the same playlist format — .m3u8 is simply the UTF-8 encoded version, which handles accented, Cyrillic, Arabic, or Chinese channel names cleanly. .m3u8 is also the format behind HLS, the streaming standard used across the web. Save favourites and skip the setup next time

Scrolling a long list every time gets old fast. In KawaTV, while a channel is playing, tap the heart next to its name to add it to Favourites; your go-to channels then appear in the Favourites row on the Home screen. Your playlists are saved to your KawaTV account and you stay signed in between launches, so you open the app and you are already there.

What if the playlist will not load?

A few common, easily fixed causes:

Typo in the URL. Re-copy the whole link; a missing character at the end is the usual culprit.
Not a playlist link. Open the URL in your browser: a playlist shows plain text starting with #EXTM3U. A web page, a login screen, or a file-sharing preview page will not load.
Refresh not tapped yet. Saving a playlist does not load it — tap refresh on its row in Settings → Playlists.
Source is offline. If a URL is temporarily down, the list will not fetch — tap refresh again later. A status of Not Found means the server says the link does not exist; Expired means your provider account has run out.
Local-network link. KawaTV's servers fetch the playlist, so links that only work on your home Wi-Fi (192.168.…, localhost) cannot be reached.
Channels are missing. KawaTV lists a playlist entry only when its tvg-id matches a channel it recognises; entries without a recognised tvg-id are skipped, and a playlist with no matches shows Failed.
Large list. Big playlists can take a little while to process after you tap refresh; give it a moment.

If a specific channel buffers while others play fine, that is the individual stream, not KawaTV.

Other players worth knowing

KawaTV is not the only option, and an honest guide should say so.

VLC is the reliable all-rounder. On Android you open a playlist via the menu's Stream option (paste a URL) or by opening the file. It plays almost anything, but it treats a playlist as a flat list — no channel groups, program guide, or TV-style layout.
Dedicated IPTV players add an on-screen program guide (EPG) and category sidebars, which some people prefer for large lists. They vary in ads, polish, and price.
